Here’s the end :) Posted on October 30th, 2009 at 10:43 pm by Khang Pang and
went for a talk ar Uni by Chris Smyth..
it was a compulsory talk for all New Media Technology students but apparently there’s only less than 20 who turned up :s
frankly i couldnt absorb the content of the entire talk..well,i just remembered we were talking about how Google do things/manage the websites..Google users will definitely know, there is this service that Google apply on the web where websites that have the most visitors will be at the top of its search engine regardless of the relevence of it,if anyone of you noticed..
i couldnt judge the way of Google manage its search engine but just some opinions from the class, many thinks that this might interrupt them in looking for the accurate information that they actually want..the experience was that, even the keywords have been key in,usually the sources that we actually want wouldnt appear at the first place or even first page..
so yeah, everything has its good side and bad side..and this is the opinion my classmates came out on Google..
p/s: i missed the chance to visit to Google office in Singapore..heard that’s pretty fun~
p/ss: i wonder why Dr. B didnt turn up for this talk, since its compulsory for all NMT fellas~ :p
the last tutorial activity was asking us to find a DIY website and relate it to our daily life..
what my froup did was about the way how to maintain the laptop battery life..very often we can see that the laptop battery couldnt last long..i mean, when the laptop was newly bought, the battery can last like,2hours..and slowly it decreases to one and a half hours, and then one hour..and so,we found out that it was actually the way that people recharge their battery everytime..i believe many (including myself) tend to charge the laptop battery and turnin on the laptop simultaneously bacause it saves time as we can do the work while charging. Anyhow, this shouldnt be the way of charging because this method could in fact shorten the life of a laptop battery..we should only charge the battery, when the laptop if off..
throughtout the whole class,i actually learn somethin that apparently easy but unnoticeable in the life.. e.g. the reserve battery of nokia phone~
and that’s why i always say,the new technologies could always give suprises in a way that it makes the work lesser and save the time..isnt it?we have been talking about the less paper work that the technologies bring to us,in fact, its now far more than merely paper work..like how the video show, we dont need to queue for fitting rooms,we dont need to change cloths by cloths “manually”~everythin is by just a click…
the Restaurant City Posted on October 22nd, 2009 at 4:22 pm by Khang Pang and
all fb fans,i bet you all should know what’s this about..
i started to play this game when i started my internship on this year’s April..and the impulse of starting this is due to a sentence from my previous lecturer, when we were chating via msn and talking about facebook..”you dont know what’s restaurant city??!!”sounds sarcastic,i know..LoL..and that’s how it motivates me to involve myself to the game.
eventually,i have just manage to maintain the restaurant i had virtually, for like..erm,2 months??!!when the internship ends, the game ends..LoL..well,the game was fine and its a good way to kill time, especially during work (imagine majority of my colleagues were playing restaurant city at the same time when they work)..however,although im saying that it is a good way to kill time,i dont find the thrill of playing restaurant city thoough, because the characters are just to fake..although the application timing are runnin at the same time as the reality world, although the ingredients or backgrounds or aything else is achieving the way how the reality world is,for me,virtual means virtual.reality means reality.
im yet to hook in virtual games.perhaps, someday in the future,i might fall for it.if that day comes, please check out my facebook status,i’ll definitely make an official annoucement :p
online gaming Posted on October 20th, 2009 at 3:30 pm by Khang Pang and
i find myself weird, because i’ve never got myself into addiction on online gaming..yes,NEVER.so i literally dont understand why people could spend their money in reality,to buy virtual weapons, clothings, houses,or making the virtual character to be more powerful.and also people who could spend their 24hours (or more than that) in a cyber cafe..i just dont understand the power of online games.
online games like: second life, war crafts,Ranonline, etc…
honestly,i know none of them.
the only games that i know are the Sim, and a few of facebook’s applications..and these all also, only i know, but i hardly play..
so when the Dr.B was asking us to work in a group, and present an online game,my brain was completely blank..
i dont think i could talk any further about online games unless i really try it out one day..but you may visit to rachel’s posts where she could explain more about online gaming,e.g. second life.
were exposed to several video blogs in class, and watched a friend’s (liu qing) self created video blog too.. (click here to watch)
im just gotta say i salute to her guts..i think i’ll only do that,if im under the pressure of assignments..i swaer,i’ll never record myself and post up in youtube..it simply makes me feel awkward..
as also mentioned in her post, some people are even doing diary video where its like wrting a diary, but in video form..this sounds new, isnt it??videos are now not just about acting or doings but as well as a person’s memorable tool..
i think, video blog is a better diary as if to compare to blogs merely with words..this is because after several years when u look back to your own diary, video blog could provide the deepest expression of that time but blogging with words could only provide the imagination to you..eventually,you might forget how the deepest feeling at that time..
talking about the advantages of video blog,i have an impulse of doing one for myself too, just yet,the guts come.
amazing youtube~ Posted on October 13th, 2009 at 1:36 pm by Khang Pang and
in Youtube, you can find any video, from the funniest to most serious, from most interesting to bored..and somehow u’ll feel amazed that how familiar those people could react in every single movements and their expression in their eyes under the camera..
well,do you think, youtube has made the work easier too??!!i would say definitely say yes because there is this incident happened to me where,my high school mates who were majoring in broadcasting in different Uni as i am,were asking me to help out for them in their short film casting..one day after the casting,we were chatting in MSN about the clip and i wanted her to send me that clip..before i actually asked her to send it to me via MSN,spontaneously, i asked: did u upload in youtube?and she answered yes..i found the thrill that i dont need to wait for the load and patience abot the speed in MSN (because video sending in MSN generally are slow)..just after that,i went to youtube and downloded that clip..after all,it only takes me a few minutes..
this is the clip that they made and i played the character of a balletriana (who appeared only for a few seconds -__- )
there are some cases i’ve read from newspapers recently about how web cam has been misuse..its sad to hear that people are doing things immorality and try to make money out of it..i’ve got this news that two net friends were trying to stimulates the conversations and so, this guy has enticed the girl to make some movements that would provoke his sexuality.unfortunately, the guy has recorded every single movement of the girl by web cam and blackmailed her.initially they have compromised that once the guy receive the amount of money he needs,he’ll destroy the video that he recorded..however, this case was reported to the newspaper eventuallybecause the guy has been constantly using this video as a tool of taking money from the girl until the girl was awake that if she doesnt report about this case, she’ll be forever in nightmares.
sometimes,we just cant imagine how life has been so much easier with new technologies where by just merely the camera,we can do numerous stuffs, e.g. not physically attend a meeting in the office. the evolution of web cam, from its initial USB portable cam untill today, where most of the laptops has built-in cam, and handphones with camera functions, is generating a new mile stone to the users.
i’ll end today’s post with this video.check this out people
tech no us Posted on October 6th, 2009 at 1:49 am by Khang Pang and
i found out this question interesting in one of my friend’s post..
is the Technology needs us? Or we need technology?
oh well, asking this question is just like a girlfriend asking the boyfriend,”do u love me more or yr mum”..
from my point of view,i dont agree if the statement goes merely like “we need technology”..we are the people who invented technology and the invention of these tecchnologies depends on people like any of us. so,instead of classifying whether technology need us or we need technology, what about to say, they are both interdependent..
i mean,in reality to the certain extent where we do rely on techonology, indeed very much, for example in her post that she has mentioned, her friend kept the bible notes in the phone..i would claim that, without our dependency, the technology becomes nothing..because when no one explore to the new technology, that particular technology become useless..
