Web based email: Webcam Conversation

What is gmail?

Gmail is an online email address (often called webmail) that is accessible from anything that is connected to the Internet including your phone.

Why are we learning about gmail?

Our Gmail account gives us access to a group of programs, some of which we will be looking at later down the track. It also provides us with a throw away the email address (if you wish) at the finish of the program.

Gmail is a good example of  ‘cloud’ computing software. This type of software is accessible from anywhere with an Internet connection and stores it’s data on somewhere other than your computer.

This can be very handy for people using multiple computers or for people using  mobile devices.
