Try checking in the top right hand side of the page to see whether you are logged into your gmail account. This logs you into all of your google accounts, including the blogging account.

If you did not log out of gmail/google before creating the blog, then it will be created under your login.

To test it:
1) Open another browser, go to the blog’s URL (web address) and try to log in
2) Go to gmail and log yourself out, then check the blog’s URL.

Thanks all for your comments and suggestions. By ‘own’ it - I mean can only one person log in and administrate the site. i agree, however, that the group would formulate rules around using it.

Sounds like a great idea. By owned, do you mean how a blog is moderated or overseen? Maybe with older children, part of the process could be coming up with the ground rules as a group?

Let’s have another look at this if we get time on Tuesday. I *know* that mine is set differently so that items do disappear. I can then choose to see the old ones if I change a setting .. Hmmmm.

You might want to check out Edublogs , Helena. They use the same blogging platform that we use, WordpressMU. There are around 300 thousand blogs from teachers and students there.

Here is their list of 10 ways to use your edublog to teach .

They make there money by charging a small fee for things like “class sets” of blogs, where the teacher gets to administer the blogs for the kids and only kids in that network can see each others’ blogs.

I’m not endorsing or advertising it in any way, just thought you’d find the site interesting. There is also Wordpress.com and Blogger to create free blogs.

I replied to this comment but not sure if it went through now - still learning!! Basically yeah - have a look at mine - went for dual theme of gardening and blogging this course stuff (although didn’t really name it appropriately)! Good to start with this forum and then figure out what you would really have to blog about and base it around that. Mine will hopefully be listed soon - it is Clare’s Soapbox - actually picked the same theme as you but found out how to personalise the header photo. Happy blogging
