Evolution to Revolution to Chaos? Reference in Transition

September 7, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’m a sucker for Stephen Abram’s thinking… whether or not he turns out to be right, he’s still not afraid to speculate and be very direct.
His latest column in Searcher magazine is all about the future of reference and some responses we could make if we evolve quickly enough, Evolution to Revolution to Chaos? Reference in Transition .
I particularly like these approaches in his “Baker’s Dozen” of suggested approaches:
3. Learning Commons
7.Team Players (Death of the Reference Cowboy)
8. The Retail Librarian: Nordstrom, The Gap, or Land’s End
9. Shoulder to Shoulder: Personal Skills Training
13. Wisdom of Crowds: Advice and Recommendations
